Tuesday Evening Activities
Networking Reception/Poster Session
On Tuesday from 5:45 to 7:00 p.m., EPA Region 2 will host a reception at the hotel.
The reception is being held in conjunction with the poster session. Please join us to
network with your colleagues, view posters, and talk with the poster authors.
Restricted Area Performance at Ujima Theatre
A free performance of Restricted Area will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening
at the Ujima Theatre, located at 545 Elmwood Avenue in Buffalo (about two miles from
the Hyatt Regency). Restricted Area, a one-act play written by Houston playwright,
Thomas Meloncon, focuses on lead poisoning, air pollution and environmental justice in
an urban African-American neighborhood. The actors in the play represent residents of
Houston's Fifth Ward, where a Superfund site threatens the health of children at an
adjacent elementary school. A panel focusing on childhood lead poisoning and
scientific translational outreach will follow the performance.
Bus transportation will be provided for conference participants to attend this
performance. Space is limited to 50 people and is available on a first-come,

Wednesday Evening Activity
An Evening at Niagara Falls
A trip to Niagara Falls is planned for the evening of Wednesday, July 13.
Participants will travel by bus to Goat Island and Prospect Point State Parks, and
will have several options for the evening, including a boat ride (on the Maid of the
Mist), a balloon ride, crossing to the Canadian side over the Rainbow Bridge, enjoying
dinner at numerous restaurants near the falls, or visiting the Seneca Niagara Casino.
Buses will depart the hotel at 6:00 pm and plan to return by 11:00 pm.
There is a $10 fee to participate in this event. Space for the trip is limited and
available on a first-come, first-served basis. To register for this event, complete
the registration form and submit your payment as directed on the registration form.

An outstanding center of modern and contemporary art, the Albright-Knox collection
belongs among the world's top international surveys of 20th century painting and
sculpture. Upcoming exhibits include The Wall: Reshaping Contemporary Chinese Art, the
largest exhibition of contemporary Chinese art to travel beyond China. This exhibition
is being presented by the University at Buffalo Art Galleries, the Albright-Knox Art
Gallery, and the China Millennium Monument Art Museum, Beijing in 2005. This is the
first collaboration between United States art museums and a significant Chinese art
institution to focus on contemporary art.
Buffalo City Hall Observation Tower:

Buffalo City Hall is an Art Deco masterpiece with spectacular views of Lake Erie and
the city. Open Monday to Friday, 9:00am-4:00pm. Closed on holidays and weekends.
Broadway Market:

Established in 1888, the Broadway Market is the oldest indoor market in the United
States. The market features old-world butcher shops and bakeries, candy shops and
restaurants with an assortment of ethnic food vendors.
The Buffalo Naval & Servicemen's Park:
Fifteen (15) minutes away from the Hyatt Regency Buffalo.
The Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Servicemen's Park is the nation's largest
facility of it type. The park is located within a moderate walk of the Erie Basin
Marina. On display are the destroyer U.S.S. The Sullivans, and the missile cruiser
U.S.S. Little Rock. The newest vessel at the Servicemen's Park is the submarine U.S.S.
Croaker. The Servicemen's Park includes a military museum, tanks, aircraft and a
Patrol Torpedo Boat. The park is open daily from 10:00am-5:00pm.

The historic house museum where Theodore Roosevelt was inaugurated as the 26th
President of the United States in 1901. The site is the only National Park location in
Western New York.
